You Won’t Recover Your Trading Losses by Trading the Same Way

One of the most common questions people ask me is, “How do I recover my trading losses?”
People reach out to me because they consider me an experienced trader and want to learn how to improve their trading. But there’s something you need to understand.
You can’t recover your losses by being the same trader who lost that money in the first place.
Think about it. If you haven’t improved your skills, learned from your mistakes, or changed the way you approach the market, what makes you think your next trades will be any different?
You’re still making decisions with the same knowledge and skills that led to those losses in the first place. And if nothing changes, you risk losing even more.
01Accept the Loss First
The first thing you need to do is accept that you’ve lost that money.
I know it’s difficult. Nobody likes losing money, especially when they feel like the market has taken something away from them. You start thinking, “How dare the market take my money? I need to get it back.”
But that’s the wrong mindset.
The market doesn’t owe you anything, and it doesn’t care about your losses.
Your job isn’t to get your money back. Your job is to become a better trader.
02Understand Why You Lost
Start by understanding why you lost that money in the first place.
Was it poor risk management? Bad entries? Excessive leverage? Emotional decisions? Or did you simply lack the knowledge to understand what you were trading?
Identify the problem and work on fixing it.
There are plenty of resources available to help you improve. You can learn from the content I share on my profile, explore educational material on YouTube, use Google or AI tools to understand your mistakes, or find a mentor who can guide you.
03Nobody Can Do the Work for You
Whenever people reach out to me with questions, I try to help them as much as I can because I genuinely want to see them improve.
But there’s one thing you need to understand: nobody can do the work for you.
Someone can guide you, point out your mistakes, and help you understand the market. But you have to apply what you learn and make the effort to improve yourself.
04Don’t Chase the Market
Losses aren’t recovered by chasing the market. You give yourself a better chance of recovering by fixing the mistakes that caused them.
If you’re still making the same decisions, taking the same risks, and repeating the same mistakes, you’re just giving yourself another chance to lose.
Accept the loss. Understand what went wrong. Learn from it and improve.
That’s how you give yourself a real chance of becoming a profitable trader.
That's it for this article!
